Description

Widely regarded as one of the most iconic British grand tourers ever built, the Aston Martin DB5 perfectly combines Touring of Milan’s Superleggera design with Newport Pagnell craftsmanship. With its elegant proportions and unmistakable presence, the DB5 remains among the most desirable and recognisable classic cars ever produced.

Few cars in cinematic history have achieved the cultural impact of the DB5, immortalised by Sean Connery in the 1964 James Bond film Goldfinger. Finished in Silver Birch and equipped with the legendary ‘Q Branch’ gadgets, it became the definitive on-screen motor car and an enduring symbol of British style and sophistication.

In 2020, Aston Martin paid tribute to this legacy with the announcement of just 25 non-road legal DB5 ‘Goldfinger Edition’ continuation cars. Each example featured fully functioning theatrical gadgets and was launched at approximately £3,500,000, underscoring the enduring desirability of the Bond specification.

The example offered here was supplied new in February 1964 by Aston Martin agents Charles Sidney Ltd of Yorkshire. While many DB5s are today refinished in Silver Birch, this particular motor car has, in recent years, been comprehensively upgraded with professionally executed ‘Goldfinger’-inspired enhancements. The modifications faithfully recreate the visual drama of the original film car while remaining entirely non-weaponised and display-focused.

The works carried out include:

Simulated front-mounted machine gun installation
Electrically operated front and rear revolving number plates
Rear smoke screen effect system
Rear fluid dispersal system
Bullet-resistant style rear shield
Bespoke interior centre console incorporating ‘007’ control switches
Concealed compartment housing a Walther PPK
Simulated radar tracking display
Left-hand drive conversion
Air conditioning installation

Such was the quality of the conversion that EON Productions selected this DB5 for display at the 2021 premiere of No Time To Die in Monaco. Positioned at the entrance to the Casino de Monte-Carlo, the car was photographed alongside H.S.H. Prince Albert II, Dame Shirley Bassey and Christian Moore, son of Sir Roger Moore.

Today, this Aston Martin DB5 presents in excellent condition throughout and benefits from a well-documented contemporary history. Servicing and maintenance over the past 28 years have been entrusted to highly respected marque specialists, with a fresh service completed in February 2026.

Offered with a comprehensive history file, including a copy of its original factory build sheet, this DB5 represents a rare opportunity to acquire not only a beautifully presented example of one of Britain’s most celebrated motor cars, but one further enhanced by an exceptionally sophisticated and high-profile Bond-inspired specification.
