Description
This Jaguar MK2 3.8 Manual with overdrive is a fine example, presented in a mid-metallic silver with contrasting ox blood leather interior, sitting on Vredestein radial tyres on recent chrome wire wheels.
The door, bonnet and boot gaps are even, with all the doors closing as they were intended, using the in-period salesperson’s 6” test, as suggested by Jaguar Ltd.
Having been tastefully upgraded to include hydraulic powered rack & pinion steering, overcoming the bug bear of the MK2’s heavy and somewhat vague steering. The car has a 4-speed gearbox with the charm and relaxed cruising afforded by overdrive, but is upgraded to an all-synchromesh unit, with lovely and precise gates, adding to the joy of driving this special Jaguar MK2 3.8.
Inside the same applies, with the fitting of electric front seats, with integral rear picnic trays and courtesy light. These seats from the Jaguar XJ40 offer 4-way electric adjustment, are super comfortable, and have the added safety of headrests. The rear seats have also been re-engineered with headrests, with all occupants treated to colour coded inertia reel seat belts.
Wherever you look, the car keeps reassuring you that it has been continuously cared for and improved, with details such as the steel Coombs style spats, (original included), spare wheel and rare and valuable toolbox and kit.
Around 2008, the car underwent a bare shell rebuild and this is recorded with photographs.
In 2017, the car had a colour change to its present hue of mid- metallic silver, together with replacement door skins and other improvements.
The paper file shows that in 2023, expenditure with a well-respected Jaguar specialist included renewal of running gear, new fuel lines to handle E10 fuel (the engine was rebuilt in 2008, and has done minimal mileage since), together with a detailed and recommended list of other works, were carried out a cost of in excess of £10,000.00
In summary, one of the nicest examples of this Iconic Jaguar saloon.
