In 2014, Subaru introduced the Levorg, a versatile estate based on the iconic Impreza and Legacy platforms. While the UK version arrived in 2015 with a modest 1.6L turbocharged engine, Subaru stayed true to its JDM roots by producing a Japan-only variant with a serious performance focus: the Subaru Levorg STi. This model swaps the underwhelming FB16 engine for the far more potent 2.0L FA20 turbo boxer unit, delivering a punchy 296bhp and the signature symmetrical 4WD grip you’d expect from a flagship Subaru.

While designed as a refined family cruiser, the STi version transforms the driving experience when the road opens up. It’s not a raw rally car, but with sharper handling courtesy of factory-fitted Bilstein dampers and STi tuning, it certainly knows how to have fun.
