The second iteration of the GR Yaris comes with various upgrades, including re-designed front and rear bumpers, and a cooling package with a new sub-radiator and intercooler spray. The 1.6-litre turbocharged engine is carried over but has been revised with lighter pistons and a sturdier valvetrain; selectable drive modes have been altered. Toyota have improved the car’s body control by increasing spring rates and have mounted the suspension struts with three pins instead of one to maintain geometry under load. The amount of bonding adhesive and spot welds have also been raised by 24 per cent and 13 per cent respectively. Not only does the reworked dashboard sit 50mm lower than in its predecessor, but the front seats have also been moved 25mm closer to the floor to optimise the driving position.
