This 1970 Ford Escort Mk1 Lotus Twin Cam Big Wing has undergone recent restoration work completed by Specialist Team, ASM Classics located in Kent and is evident throughout. All interior trim has been replaced or restored to a new condition. This vehicle has some history to include Mot certificates, tax discs, servicing & repair invoices dating from the 80s. Also included is a vehicle valuation dated 1981 from the Ford Owners Club. The Escort Lotus Twin Cam Big Wing is a higher performance version of the original Escort, which was built for racing and competed in Group 2 international rallying. With less than a thousand made, It was powered by a Lotus made eight valve twin camshaft head, fitted to the 1.5 litre non crossflow block which had a bigger bore than usual to give a capacity of 1,558 cc. This engine had originally been developed for the Lotus Elan. Production of the Twin Cam which was produced at Halewood then was later phased out as the Cosworth engine RS1600 production began.
