EXTERIOR

The 911 GT3 RS 4.0 stands as the definitive modern classic in Porsche’s lineage — the final and most focused evolution of the Mezger-engined era. Limited in production and revered for its raw driver engagement, it has become the most sought-after modern 911 among collectors.

This example is one of, if not the very finest build. Finished in Paint to Sample Guards Red, the colour that has defined Porsche’s motorsport heritage for decades, it presents with an intensity and depth that perfectly captures the 4.0’s purpose — unapologetically pure and visually striking. At the time of production (and unlike today) the Paint to Sample program was highly exclusive and available to only a select few Porsche VIPs at the time, 39 in fact out of the 600 run, just 6.5% of the total production.

As Porsche built it, this car remains in impeccable, original condition — a true collector’s dream, still wearing its factory paint throughout and showing every sign of having lived a pampered life. It appears never to have been driven in the wet, its presentation and originality setting it apart as one of the benchmark examples of the model.

The RS 4.0 combines aerodynamic precision and motorsport engineering in perfect harmony. Front flics and the larger rear wing generate meaningful downforce, while hydraulic steering, the absence of rear steer, and the legendary race-derived 4.0-litre Mezger engine deliver a level of connection and feedback no modern Porsche can replicate.

INTERIOR

The Exclusive manufacture Interior exudes a refined, luxurious atmosphere that complements its race-bred performance. Rather than being stripped back and track-focused, this example was specified for both comfort and usability. Fitted with heated sports seats in place of the fixed-back buckets these offer more versatility for regular driving while retaining the model’s unmistakable sense of purpose.

An exceptionally specified car when new, it represents one of, if not the most generously equipped and beautifully finished 4.0’s built with many hidden special order options. The cabin is swathed in black leather and alcantara from top to bottom while custom red contrast stitching runs throughout, creating a striking link to the Guards red exterior and re-affirming an incredible attention to detail. Even the air vents are carbon, leather wrapped with contrasting red stitched, an impressive feet of craftsmanship and exclusivity which harks back to the 993 Turbo S builds by the Exclusive department.

The wealth of factory options elevate the interior further including front-axle lift, sound package plus, Chrono Plus, PCM 3 navigation and extensive carbon-fibre trim across the dashboard, centre console and door panels. Presented in practically brand-new condition, the cabin remains as crisp and tight as the day it left Weissach. The leather is taut and unmarked, the switchgear shows no wear, and the car even retains that distinctive new Porsche aroma. With no roll cage or fire extinguisher fitted, the interior feels light, open and sophisticated — a perfect blend of luxury and performance intent.

Combined with the car’s hydraulic steering and analogue feedback, this GT3 RS 4.0 delivers the ideal balance between pure driver engagement and usability — a rare and now desirable combination given its highly collectible status.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

At its heart lies the legendary 4.0-litre flat-six Mezger engine — at the time, the most powerful naturally aspirated engine Porsche had ever produced, and still the largest race-derived Mezger unit ever fitted to a road-going 911. Delivering 493 bhp and an 8,500 rpm redline, it represents the pinnacle of Porsche’s analogue performance engineering. The engine bursts into life with a menacing, mechanical growl, accompanied by the unmistakable GT3 RS chatter and rattle from its lightweight, race-spec flywheel — a soundtrack instantly familiar to anyone who’s heard its RSR stablemate on track. Every input, every rev, every gearshift feels alive and connected.

This example has been maintained exclusively by Porsche technicians from new and remains in perfect mechanical condition.

It stands today as a reference-standard example of the ultimate naturally aspirated 911.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES

This PTS 4.0 is equipped with its original factory GT wheels finished in White as per its factory build sheet, providing a striking contrast to the Guards Red exterior. The racing livery inspired wheels are still fitted with the original Pilot Sport Cup tyres from new, reflecting the car’s gentle use.

Stopping power comes from the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) system, identified by yellow calipers and large carbon discs. Both calipers and discs remain in pristine condition, with minimal wear, underscoring the car’s exceptionally low mileage, road use and meticulous care.

HISTORY FILE

One of the very last 4.0 registered and delivered in March of 2013 by Porsche Gstaad, this bespoke and exclusive RS was was not only optioned with its PTS exterior colour but received an Exclusive manufacture interior with a unique options list.

It is numbered 538 out of the limited run of 600 cars produced and one of the very few that were produced in a Paint to Sample colour.

This very special 4.0 has been under the watchful eye of qualified OEM Technicians from new and cared for accordingly;
