EXTERIOR

Finished in iconic Guards Red, this 944 S2 remains in lovely original condition with only 48k miles and just 3 owners from new. The paintwork gleams with a deep, uniform shine following a recent detail, highlighting the sharp lines and timeless design of this boxy 80s classic. Aside from a few honest stone chips and very minor imperfections the car is beautiful. The rear spoiler is pristine and still in its unpainted factory finish, all the lights are clear, and the original Design 90 alloys look smart with new tyres all round. A very tidy example in a classic Porsche colour combo, and a rare find with only 3 keepers and under 50k miles.

INTERIOR

The cabin is equally impressive, showing minimal signs of use and clearly benefitting from careful ownership throughout its life. The desirable factory sports seats maintain excellent shape and support with the black leather contrasting the Guards Red exterior perfectly. With the car’s low seating position and chunky sports steering wheel, inside the 944 is a fantastic place to be, and better still we’ve been unable to find any notable wear in any of the usual areas. Even finer details such as the gear knob and switchgear remain in first-rate condition, and the dash is free from any cracks or sun damage. The removable sunroof panel adds to the level of comfort and usability, and in the footwells the spotless carpets are well protected by genuine Porsche overmats. The original fabric luggage cover is still present in the boot along with the Porsche tyre inflator kit and tool roll.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Having been carefully tucked away in recent years, the car has just returned from a £4,700 mechanical shakedown and service that included a timing belt and water pump change, all-new brake pads and discs, four new tyres, a gearbox oil change, spark plugs, and a new battery. Under the bonnet everything is especially tidy with no signs of accident damage or previous poor repair. Just as you’d expect for such a low mileage example, the 3-litre 16v engine pulls well with plenty of mid-range torque, and the 5-speed manual ‘box is quite simply a joy to operate.

HISTORY FILE

This fantastic 944 S2 was first registered in August 1991. Quite remarkably for a Porsche of this vintage it has driven just 48,606 miles in the hands of 3 long term owners. It was purchased by the current keeper in 2010 although it has been used only lightly in recent years to keep the mileage low, and the result is what you see here – a lovely unmodified example in very original condition. The accompanying history folder includes a raft of maintenance invoices, MOT certificates, tax discs, the original 1991 bill of sale from Glenvargill Porsche, an original S2 sales brochure, spec sheet, spare key, and the leather Porsche document pouch with all owners’ manuals. There are 12 Porsche/specialist stamps in the original service book plus invoices for the remaining work including the recent £4,700 service and cambelt change at the current mileage.
