The Superlight R400 has long been one of Caterham’s most formidable models. Equivalent to a very highly rated 420R, the Superlight R400 offered blistering acceleration and cornering performance, with a power-to-weight ratio of circa 400bhp per tonne.

This R400 has recently been refreshed with a nice new paint job in Porsche Riviera Blue, complete with 620 style nosecone and carbon decals. Under the hood, the engine has been upgraded to 220bhp and some specialist engine work from Mick Attree, a well known and highly regarded engineer in the Caterham world. Although this only adds 10bhp over standard, it transforms the car, giving it razor sharp throttle response and an utterly addictive soundtrack. This car also has a dry sump oil system, 6 speed close ratio gearbox and ATB differential to make what could be one of the best overall packages ever to leave the Dartford based factory.

Equally at home on the road or pounding around your local race circuit, this is a Caterham that delivers usability as well as mind blowing performance, with looks to die for.
