1996 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF

For reluctant sale is my MK3 Golf GTI. Reluctant and sad sale, as this car was bought as a second car, that was to be a 'project'. Unfortunately second car ownership is not always sunshine and rainbows and I never quite managed to invest the money needed to get the car back to the state I wanted.

Listing for sale here, as we're all car people here, and I'm hopeful someone can bring 'Reidy' back to it's former glory.

The car was bought by myself in 2018, with an MOT and a few bits to do.

In the first year of ownership, the car had new disk breaks fitted, a new window regulator (drivers side) and two new front tyres (see pictures). When the tyres where fitted it was found that a new track rod end was required on the front right of the car. Queue the car sitting in the garage (car has been dry stored in my ownership) for a while.

In 2023 the car was somewhat resurrected and was taken off for an MOT - to find out what issues may be in need of correction. You'll see from the government website that there was one dangerous defect, and a few major defects. We set about correcting those, putting a whole new front suspension (Bilstein) set up on the car. The vehicle passed its MOT with pretty much with flying colours, and the plan was once again to start using the car and fixing parts as I went. Unfortunately life gets in the way, and save for one or two drives, the car has sat in the garage again since then.

The sale is completely genuine, we're looking to buy a property with no garage, and so no real space to keep the car.

The car is not perfect by any means, there's various rust spots, some age related marks, a period cigarette hole on passenger seat, the rear tyres need replacing, and the central locking doesn't work (think it's a pump issue). I've fitted a new battery in the last few days, and the car is running well.
