EXTERIOR
Finished in a striking shade of Red, this remarkable example presents in outstanding condition, retaining almost all of its original factory paint. Having been cherished as a spare car and kept garaged throughout its life, it has covered a mere 2,000 miles since 1999 — an astonishing testament to its preservation.
This is the very definition of a true survivor car. Its paintwork gleams beautifully, and aside from a handful of tiny marks that hint at its age, it remains superbly presentable and full of character.
The black plastic trim around the arches, bumpers, and along the sides present excellently, showing no noticeable scuffs or fading. The lights are crystal clear and all the glass is original. Having lived a sheltered life, all the rubber seals remain soft and supple, reflecting the car’s careful storage and light use over the years.
INTERIOR
Stepping inside, the iconic black and red interior immediately evokes the unmistakable Peugeot GTi character. The red quartet fabric remains in first-rate condition, showing only small signs of the typical fading often seen on carpets or upholstery. The seat bolsters have aged exceptionally well, displaying no wear or damage.
A Clarion radio cassette player complements the cabin perfectly while maintaining its authentic 1980s charm. The dashboard and black plastic trims are free from cracks or sun damage, the door cards present as new, and the rear parcel shelf remains completely untouched — a rare sight on any 205 GTi.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
With 130 hp and a kerb weight of just 900 kg, the 1.9 GTI set the benchmark for hot hatch excitement and inspired an entire generation of enthusiasts. The perfect harmony between its pin-sharp steering, tactile gearshift, and fizzing 1.9 litre engine made it a revelation on the road — a car that would firmly establish itself as one of the finest driver’s cars of its era.
The most recent service, carried out at PUG Dynamics in November 2024, ensures that all mechanical components are in good working order, with the car running smoothly and as expected. The engine bay, having undergone a light restoration and careful detailing, presents tidy and clean, reflecting the car’s careful upkeep.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The 15-inch Speedline wheels feature their classic factory silver finish, which perfectly complements the car’s authentic character and appeal.
All four corners are shod with matching Pirelli P6000 tyres, each retaining plenty of tread depth, ensuring both period-correct style and confident performance.
HISTORY FILE
Owned from new by a dedicated husband-and-wife duo, the car was always meticulously maintained and kept completely original. the Peugeot remained in top mechanical condition, attending to servicing and repairs as required to keep it running perfectly.
Following his passing in 1999, the owners wife continued to care for the car as a cherished second vehicle following his guidance. Since then, the 205 has been carefully garaged, preserving its superb paintwork and overall condition. Although it remained MOT’d, taxed, and insured annually, the car saw very limited use with the single family until its sale to its current Owner in 2012.
The mileage remains exceptionally low and entirely genuine, with fewer than 2,000 miles covered over the past 22 years! — a remarkable testament to the car’s careful preservation and the owners’ dedication.
As an incredibly original and unmolested survivor example with just 2 owners and low mileage the car sits as a fabulous usable practical classic which would stand out at any car show.
The original book is present along with invoicing, MOT History and also both keys.
