Description

1939 Triumph Dolomite Roadster 14/65 finished in Red with Beige hide interior. This extremely rare example is one of just 12 examples in existence only half of which are road going. The story of the Dolomite starts in 1936 when, facing bankruptcy, Triumph launched a new range of models headed by the Dolomite, powered by a brand new, all alloy overhead valve 1767 cc engine with crossflow cylinder heads designed by Donald Healey. The cars featured the famous Waterfall grille by Walter Belgrove and on the roadster models, a fold out rear ‘dicky’ seat. The first owner of this example is not known however we do know the car has had just 4 owners from new, the second owner purchased the car in 1951/2 from Chequred Garage in Chiswick, London, he sold the car in 1964. The car remained in the same family, passing from father to son until 2019 and it has had one owner since then. This is a particularly fine example with matching chassis and engine numbers and it is presented in outstanding condition throughout with excellent body and paintwork, perfect carpets and leather and running and driving beautifully. A scarce opportunity to acquire one of the rarest British open top sports cars ever made.
