Mk 1 Lotus Cortinas remain hugely popular thanks to their motorsport heritage, distinctive specification and unique driving experience, however, original examples can be hard to find as most of them have disappeared into collections over the years

This 1963 replication has been carefully assembled using a bodyshell from a period 1600 De Luxe with nearly all the correct early features and details

Modifications from the standard 1600 include the rear suspension - vertical coil spring/dampers/ two trailing arms with an A-frame/stiffening floor braces - the front suspension-shorter struts and forged track-control arms, early front and rear brakes, boot hump and correct boot lid stay

The interior features the correct riveted steering wheel, early gear knob, Aluminium dashboard trim, rubber floor covering, chrome under-dash handbrake lever, and the original dashboard pod with all the correct early clocks

Powered by an early 1558cc, 105bhp Twin Cam with green cam covers and the correct early Weber 40 DCOE Type-18 wide-body carburettors

Everything on the car is either new old stock or fully rebuilt, with the attention to detail expected from a specialist build

A very well-executed example, attractively estimated and sure to appeal to anyone seeking a correctly prepared early car at a very sensible price point
