A car that celebrates Subaru’s Nürburgring endurance racing success in the most hardcore, special edition form.

Just 300 tS Special Editions were ever produced, of which only 200 were to full Type RA specification, and only 100 received the ultimate NBR Challenge package, on top of that only 69 cars were finished in the striking Tangerine Orange Pearl, making this one of the rarest & most collectible modern Subarus available.

History

The NBR Challenge is an even more exclusive version of an already limited edition, built to celebrate Subaru winning the Nürburgring 24HR race in 2011 & 2012.

Born from the hardcore Spec C, the WRX STI tS Type RA is a rare, STI-built complete model created to deliver ultimate precision & agility.

With a lightweight body, exclusive STI aero, rally-derived 11:1 quick steering & Brembo 6-pot brakes, it embodies the spirit of ‘Type RA’ Record Attempt, Subaru’s most driver-focused badge.

This example is a Grade 4.5B car with just 41,212km (25,608 miles) from new, benefitting from an exceptional list of high-quality performance upgrades on top of the already formidable NBR Challenge specification.

With the car are original booklets, including the service booklet, even the STi keyring.

A large amount of invoices are present in the box file, including invoices for the HKS upgrade works.

On top of this the previous owner kept a log of every time he changed the oil & filter himself along with every time he fuel in the car! This is definitely a really well cared for car.

Body & Paintwork

Finished in the rare and stunning Tangerine Orange Pearl this example presents very well & stands out from the crowd.

The Sti splitter & carbon wing give this Impreza a serious presence, on the road & standing still, both of which are in great condition of course.

All paintwork has just benefitted from a single stage machine polish & presents very well indeed, it really is a beautiful example.

Badges, glass, lights, trims all appear to be original & are in great condition, as can be seen in the pictures.

The wheels also present as new, having only been on the car for less than 7,000kms

Interior & Trim

The interior of this car looks absolutely fantastic.

Obviously the first thing you notice with this car is the stunning Sti Recaro Seats, which are all in beautiful condition, the rear seats don’t look like they have been sat it!

Original floor mats are of course still in place, all switches work as they should & none of them are showing signs of wear.

Engine

The legendary EJ20 needs no introduction. Since it’s debut in 1989 it has stood the test of time & been responsible for powering some serious cars.

The engine is this Impreza has been fully built using the HKS 2.2L kit. Comprising of HKS crank, pistons & conrods along with Tomei cams, head gaskets & studs, as well as a Tomei baffle stiffener.

HKS 850cc injectors & HKS GT Turbo help deliver enough power to surprise supercars & the HKS down pipe & full exhaust system offer a soundtrack to match.

Of course cooling has not been overlooked & is looked after by way of a HKS oil cooler kit.

A dyno sheet is with the paperwork showing 395.6ps, however we plan to have another dyno check completed to confirm this figure, as we were also told it has significantly more power than this so we plan to check.

Obviously the car starts & runs beautifully, no smoke or unwanted noises either when cold on start up or when warm & on the road either on boost or on over run.

The car performs cleanly through the rev range with no hesitations.

Running Gear

This Impreza drives fantastic as you would expect, handling upgrades really add to the drive experience. The HKS coil overs, factory STI LSD & BBS RI-A 1 wheels fitted with Advan AO52 tyres keep it planted on the road while the factory tS Type RA NBR Challenge 6 pot Brembo front calipers & 2 pot rear calipers provid all the stopping power needed.

All running gear is in great condition as you would expect of a low mileage car & pictures show the stunning underside condition.
