Time-warp cars come our way from time to time, but none more complete and luxurious than this magnificent Mercedes Benz CL600.

The CL600 really was the connoisseur’s choice, being considerably more expensive when new than the '500' for what on paper looks like a modest uplift in performance. Thats where the ethos of the '600' catches you out- it’s not about performance, it’s about sophistication. A remarkable engine that delivers circa 360 bhp, and 390 ft-lbs whilst barely making a sound. Couple this to the groundbreaking Active Cylinder Control, which shuts off six of the cylinders whilst cruising, and this big GT coupe can deliver better fuel economy than a '500'.

This particular example has a totally complete history file with everything from the initial order form to the letter confirming that its first owner, Mrs 'R', collected the car in person from the factory in Stuttgart. The car spent the first 16 years of its life in her custodianship between Ascot and Monaco- as you do!
