Description
Bought aged 19 and owned for 20 years, sadly it's time to sell my Mk1.
I've done my best to keep it as clean as possible, with small additions throughout the years, but other than that it’s largely unchanged since I’ve owned it.
If you're looking for a completely original mini then this probably isn't for you (currently running an 850cc engine and different period accessories). There's not a lot of history from before I owned it, but there are many receipts since.
I have friends who had minis and just wanted to be part of the mini scene and enjoy the shows. It’s been to London to Brighton in 2009 (it was on the Autoglym stand, see pic), plus Wings and Wheels and Brooklands mini show a few times. I’ve enjoyed it for what it is (on sunny days only!).
There's just something about this mini, when you come to see it you'll know what I mean.
Here's the spec:
ENGINE (confirmed by an engine builder):
905cc block
Std 850cc stroke crank @ 68.25mm
Std 998cc bore and flat top piston @ 64.59mm
Std rocker assembly
12G295 Cooper head casting
Extensively ported and polished inlet and exhaust ports
Extensively skimmed to raise compression ratio
C-AEG587 26.5mm exhaust valves
C-AEG588 31mm inlet valves
180lbs double valve springs
Lightened retaining caps
Calisbro valve guides
Unknown cam but of mild nature
HS4 carb with K&N style air filter
Maniflow cooper free flow exhaust manifold
Maniflow centre exit 1" 3/4 mild steel exhaust
Standard gearbox
Now has electronic ignition as done 3-4 years back, and runs better for it.
Also has a new fuel pump and radiator (+ hoses) with minimal miles on them as have only done a few 100 miles in the last few years or so.
OUTSIDE
The body is largely in excellent condition as can be seen from the pictures, but was told the floor could need some attention at some point. Will happily jack the car up on viewing for you.
The outer sills were done around 15 years ago.
10” Minilites in immaculate condition. When I bought the car I was told they were a rare version, but I can’t confirm that.
Dunlop SP Sport tyres. The tread is good but they have been on the car since I've owned it so they’re 20+ years old.
OTHER PARTS
Lots of great period parts on it including:
Les Leston steering wheel
Benelite grille
Newton Commercial carpets, headlining and visors
Custom made and unique dash binnacle
Custom Corbeau drivers bucket seat (the car comes with the original drivers seat too)
Ripspeed rocker cover
Britax Excelsior static seatbelts
2 x period Bradex extinguishers mounted in the footwells
Lucas 608 dipping interior mirror
Lucas rear spotlight
Helphos windscreen spotlight with original box
Stadium overtaking mirror
Also comes with 2 x boxes of spare bits and period roof rack.
Has always been in a dry and heated garage, and is obviously tax and MOT exempt.
I have enjoyed it and I hope the new owner will too.
