1997 BMW 3 SERIES

First registered October 1997, I am only the second owner of this car. First bought by a local doctor who kept it after the finance period until 2013. I purchased it in July of 2013 and have driven and maintained it since then. The car has been a 'Hobby' car for me. it has had the required maintenance and repairs done as the issues presented themselves. Work such as all the ABS sensors and brake discs/pads have been renewed, new brake shields have been fitted to the front (these rot through and you have to remove the hubs.) New front hub bearings, a new radiator. the serpentine belt and the power steering pipe have been renewed. early on it had all the plugs replaced and has benefited from frequent oil and filter changes. Jobs that would normally consign these cars to the scrap yard were done. Anti roll bar mounts (genuine BMW parts) were replaced and bushings renewed, along with front suspension links and bushes. Also the sills on both sides have been repaired with panels cut from a sill kit. The cars condition I would describe as honest to its history. The doctor would have a panel 'Painted' if it was scratched. However there are no serious areas of corrosion on the bodywork. There are some small under paint surface patches. I have included some images to illustrate these. The car is 28 years old but drives very well, the engine pulls strong and cleanly, there is no smoke and the exhaust/cat is in good overall condition.

The interior is entirely original apart from the head unit for the stereo (these were not standard fit in BMW of this era.) This car was ordered probably with no options, so it is a standard SE specification. No sunroof, standard seats, dark grey cloth. All 328's had the trip computer fitted as standard and the automatic Aircon (the Aircon is not functional, the system works however a BMW only supplied pipe has a leak and I can't quite justify the £££ to replace it.) The headlining is sagging a little, the interior is clean. No tears or stains. It has a complete toolkit, spare wheel and jack. I have just renewed the battery and the torch is in the glove box (not sure if that works now though!)

The alloys Have 4 matching AVON tyres with good tread but now probably need replacing due to age. No cracking or signs of distress to them though. The alloys themselves have never been refinished but do show kerbing and scratches.

Its a manual car with basic ASC traction control and ABS. Manual 4 door 328i's are now very rare. I have driven it for about 8000 miles over the last 12 years. it is insured on a modern classic policy and has always been garaged whilst in my ownership.
