2019 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER

Ah, the Range Rover. Favoured by royalty, farmers, and gangsters alike. Every generation has nudged this icon of British motoring ever closer to luxury, but none more dramatically than the arrival of the L405.

While its off-road prowess remains unquestionable, it's the on-road composure that takes centre stage. Comfort, refinement, and effortless performance now define the driving experience. With Land Rover’s expanding lineup, including the Discovery, Defender, and Range Rover Sport, the full-size Range is released to focus purely on what it does best: wafting from point A to point B in serene luxury.

This example is a special one, not only is it an Autobiography specification car, but it’s also fitted with the 5.0-litre supercharged V8. Externally, the car is finished in Byron Blue and sits on a set of 21” 7-split spoke style 7001 alloys. Despite being built nearly 50 years after the original, there are still reminiscent styling touches. It is so obviously a Range Rover.

The uniquely finished exterior is paired with an interior bathed in light. The seats, which are trimmed in semi-aniline leather, are heated, cooled and massaging. The sound system is Meridian, and the headlining is suede cloth. The light seats contrast with dark carpets, steering wheel and dash. The interior is tied together by wood trim that adorns the centre console, door cards and dashboard. The full-length sliding panoramic roof adds a touch of drama to traditional luxury.

In the engine bay, you’ll find a 5-litre supercharged V8 that makes more than 500bhp. So much power that this house-sized car can hustle its way to 60 in a little over 5 seconds. The engine is mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic, and naturally, as this is a Range Rover, power is sent to all four wheels via Land Rover’s terrain response system.
