LEYLAND MINI 1000 1976 R1
R1 Engined Front wheel drive mini
Built from a bare shell between 2009 and 2014.
It really was built with the end in mind which was as light as possible with reliable high power engine but looking as normal as possible to a standard Mini. I have included as much information as possible.
Handling and adjustability on the limit has been a priority on the set up of this car.
Sadly I have to decided to move it on after buying it 5 years ago, I had intended to sprint , hillclimb and track it but my work commitments just doesn’t allow enough use.

Set of correct wheelnuts to suit
I have various sprockets so gearing can be
adjusted from 90mph MAX to theoretical
135mph. I have a gearing calculator which I
will give to the new buyer on a USB stick. The
gearing can be changed in 5 minutes with a
13mm spanner.
I have the build sheet for the car and you could easily work out the cost to replicate and I could split it for parts and comfortably make the list price I am asking, and then some, but I really would rather not do that. I would much rather it stay complete and someone else enjoy it.
Take it to your local track day and get some attention!
Although has lights indicators, wipers, skooshers and horn, so road legal spec, the mini is very stiff, loud and low to the ground running proper camber and caster so I highly recommend taking the car away on a trailer. It’s a handful on the road.
It’s had a couple of different sets of arches on it so some marks around wings but it’s a brilliant looking machine designed around performance rather than posing.

I do have a BJ club twin axle trailer for sale which has had a service and new brake cables and four new wheels and tyres and tows beautifully (first option to mini buyer at £1500)
