Description
Since the launch of the first 7 Series in 1977, BMW has set the benchmark for ultra luxurious, high performance and comfortable luxury saloon cars, creating a unique car capable of transporting its fortunate passengers in supreme comfort at great pace thanks to exceptional performance and engineering, yet in spite of its size the Bavarian manufacturer managed to retain the essence of every BMW by being a superb drivers car
The 7 series was both ‘the ultimate driving machine’ and the ‘ultimate passenger machine’, a remarkable achievement given the scale of the model and its bias towards luxury and comfort, which in our opinion has yet to be rivalled despite tough competition from rival manufacturers such as Audi, Bentley and Mercedes
The fourth generation BMW 7 Series (E65/E66) was launched in 2001 and started a new chapter in BMW history with its futuristic and radically different styling to previous 7er. The new model was penned by Chris Bangle, then Chief of Design for the BMW Group
BMW offered fortunate buyers the choice between the standard wheel base model (E65) and long wheelbase ‘Li’ variant (E66), notably six inches longer than standard, with multiple engine configurations from 3.0L six cylinder petrol and diesel units through to the mighty flagship ‘760’ model fitted with a 6.0L V12 ‘N73’, the latest development of their twelve cylinder that produced 444bhp and the first production car to feature direct fuel injection, mated to a six speed automatic transmission
The newly introduced ‘I Drive’ system was standard on all 7 series models and discerning BMW clients were offered ‘BMW Individual’ programme that allowed endless possibilities to specify a truly bespoke BMW. Our car was one of these very cars, an exceptionally high specification 760 Li ‘Individual’ model
Supplied new in February 2004 in Japan via main agents Kochi BMW of South West Japan, the original owner clearly spared no expense when ordering the car with an exhaustive list of ‘Individual’ options beyond the already highly specified ‘standard’ 760 Li
Finished in Individual ‘Carbon Black’ coachwork with Platinum Merino ‘Z1XX’ Individual hides with rarely seen silver gloss window and roof surrounds, our car has further ‘Individual’ options including 20’’ Individual ‘style 152’ wheels, Alcantara ‘Platinum’ headlining and sun visors, active front seats, adjustable and heated rear seats and AC for the rear with cool box, adaptive headlights and cruise control, front and rear CD changer and MD player, glass sunroof, Individual bi colour steering wheel, Individual Nappa Platinum coated carpets, extended Platinum leather to lower sections, glove box and knee cover, rear blinds, power tailgate etc etc
Understood to have remained in the hands of its original Japanese owner until its importation to the UK in summer 2024, this superb example was comprehensively maintained by supplying dealer ‘Kochi BMW’ throughout its twenty year tenure in Japan and is accompanied by its original service book

The car was immediately sent to marque experts BMR Performance for a full inspection who confirmed the car was a superb example in exceptional corrosion free condition, a testament to the original custodian
Since January 2025 the car has benefitted from new front Michelin tires, a major service by BMR (engine oil, gearbox and brake service), new original BMW spare key and replacement original side repeaters. Further recent works undertaken by BMR include replacement fuel pressure sensors and fuel tank vent valves as well as AC recharge and fresh MoT issued on 29th June.
