EXTERIOR

One of BMW’s most recent Individual programmes revealed the stunning Citrine Black – a sparkling, almost gold metallic that shifts to a menacing solid black in flat light. With the colour concept constantly changing depending upon conditions, the shape of this beautifully proportioned F31 can be enjoyed from all angles. Offset with dark shadowline trim, sun protection glass and chrome tips to the M Power exhaust system, this Touring certainly looks and means business.

INTERIOR

The cabin space offers a perfect marriage of technology and tradition with sharp aluminium accents offset by Piano black inlays and Individual Cohiba leather. The detail afforded to the seats is remarkable, with stitching and perforations suiting a modern aesthetic without compromising contour or comfort. The panoramic roof opens up the cabin space beautifully while rear sun protection glass and blinds assist those travelling in the second row.

Comfort access, Media Package, Harman Kardon and Enhanced Bluetooth all offer safe and stylish considerations for every occasion. The boot area houses some clever additions, with automated opening, aluminium cargo divider and extended hidden storage.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

More so than in the N55, the B58 engine uses a water-to-air intercooler integrated into the intake plenum, thus reducing the charged air volume between the compressor and the intake. This increases performance by maintaining more even temperatures inside the intake. BMW has also incorporated an engine-mounted encapsulation system, which allows the engine to retain much of its heat for up to 36 hours which helps to reduce emissions and wear and tear during start-up, especially in colder climates. As a part of BMW’s new modular engine family, the crankcase is a completely new design and shared with the B57 diesel version, engineered as both a petrol and diesel engine in one common part.

The economy figure achieved by this petrol variant, is quoted at 40.1 mpg with a CO2 emissions at 164g/km putting it into an excellent car tax band G. An incredible technological achievement for a high powered petrol.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES

The Bicolour 442 M alloys offset the sinister Citrine paintwork beautifully and showing no marks. These are wrapped in brand new Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S all round.

In terms of braking, M Sport variants now inherit a similar format provided to their M Power counterparts; powerful 4 pot front / 2 pot rear fixed calipers are now more than a match for the performance on offer.

HISTORY FILE

This elegant and unique Touring was ordered new in the Summer of 2016.
