Description
An exciting opportunity to own a genuine, very original E28. Presented in excellent condition inside and out with comprehensive maintenance history and almost every MOT certificate since 1990. It really is a credit to it's 6 former keepers who have clearly cherished the car and kept it in fine fettle! The 525e is a really interesting model, a brisk but economical addition to the range aimed at higher mileage and thrifty buyers. Upfront is a M20B27 2.7 litre straight six designed for high torque at low revs and mated to a 4 speed auto with a tall final drive. The result is a car capable of 35-40mpg and is so long legged that it will sit at 100mph at 2950rpm! Thanks to this being a 'LUX' model with some optional extra's it's well appointed with 4x electric windows and door mirrors, a tilt & slide sunroof, central locking, adjustable headrests, a leather covered 3 spoke sports steering wheel, front fog lights, thermal insulated glass and a set of BMW 'Light Alloy Wheels' Finished in the iconic colour of Alpine White over Pacific Blue velour seats and carpet set. The dash top and door cappings are finished in black whilst all lower panels and centre console are finished in Blue with a contrasting light headlining. Accompanying the car are the following items+ The original book pack containing the service booklet, owners manual, BMW dealer locator and Kenwood cassette receiver manual + 2 Keys, current V5 registration document, HPI report showing the vehicle is free from any accident damage, theft or finance + Every MOT certificate from it's first in 1990 through to 2012 (when it was laid up in storage for 10 years) and the most recent two The service book contains 24 service stamps (including the running in service) from new through to the mid 00's and there's plentiful maintenance invoices since. The most recent work carried out was in January 2025 with the replacement of the timing belt & water pump and genuine front discs & pads. From 2012 through 2023 the vehicle was in storage so naturally there is a gap in the maintenance history & MOT tests during that time. Also present in the history file is a decent batch of parts & ancillary invoices from BMW main agents and specialists. The E28 sore points are all without issue, the sills, jacking points and rear axle mounts are solid. There is of course a little light surface corrosion here and there notably the inner arch lips where paint has lifted but I've seen plenty of 'modern classic' BMW's that are far from this clean. Overall an incredibly bright and original car throughout, not totally restored to the point it looks too new, but well aged and very hard to find fault with. T The interior is especially sharp, with no obvious damage or wear to be seen. The dash is free from cracks and discolouration, the seat bolsters and base and backrests are strong and supportive with very little wear, the door cards and roof lining are tight and full of colour as are the carpets and over mats.
