⭕ VEHICLE SUMMARY
A true British icon - a powerful engine, crisp handling and a unique charming style.
Way before the 1960s British Music invasion of the US, the British motor industry had already created a demand for energetic and emotional pleasure. American soldiers were given a taste of affordable and fun open-top sports cars when stationed in the UK, and once they returned home, helped to create a demand that did much to support the British economy during the post-war years. With much of the UK's output being exported, the likes of the Austin-Healey made a huge impression on the perception of what a sports car should look and sound like. The Austin Healey created a legacy to become one of the finest open-top sports cars ever to be produced in the UK. Starting life in 1956, the Austin Healey 100/6 was an evolution of the original. Never losing its character and appeal, it was known as the Big Healey, due to its impressive power and imposing presence. The 6-cylinder car was a natural on the racetrack and was the first Big Healey to offer rear seats as an option. Designated the BN4, the styling became more streamlined and now featured a fixed windscreen. Powered by a tuned 2.6-litre C-Series engine, the 100/6 offered the motorist an affordable machine that could reach 100 mph and beyond.
This 1958 Abingdon-built home market RHD car was first registered in May 1958 and is finished in "Colorado Red / Old English White", with a red leather interior. It comes from around 1.5 years with our vendor and an impressive history file with a background of several long-term owners. It has seen a partial body renovation carried out 11 years ago and is believed to be one of just 100 Dunlop 4-disc brake models, additionally, the car retains early Abingdon features, including the Morris green engine, cigarette lighter, lockable door handle and transparent cones on the rear reflectors.
