SPECTACULAR EXAMPLE WITH ONLY 73K MILES & FSH IN A1 CONDITION The ageing process can be very cruel, taking its toll on cars from the moment they are launched ’till the day they go off sale and beyond. With the Mercedes-Benz SL launched in 1971 the opposite was true, as here was a car that matured and improved throughout its considerable 18-year lifespan. It helped the R107 SL generation was engineered to an impressively high standard by Mercedes. Part of this was just down to how Mercedes-Benz built cars at the time, and it was also because the R107 needed to follow the celebrated W113 ‘Pagoda’ model. The new car had to be better in every respect to appeal to Mercedes’ wealthy clientele and it was designed from the outset as a cruiser, a car to take you and your passenger from one end of the country to the other in comfort and then let you promenade in style. It also made the SL very safe thanks to its hefty crash structures, and Mercedes used a padded four-spoke steering wheel to further improve safety. Supplied new by Mercedes Benz dealer Bradshaw Webb of Chelsea and registered on 16th September 1988 to its first owner - a Doctor J Rothenberg of Swinbrook in Oxfordshire. The second owner was a Mrs Linda Caster Higgins who bought it in 1992 and she kept the car for 16 years until 2008, with it being at their holiday home in Majorca from 2003 to 2008. It returned to the UK in early 2009 and was later sold in October 2009. It had two further owners during the next 12 months before being purchased by the current owners Father in Law in August 2010. The car has now only covered a genuine and documented 73,169 miles during the last 37 years and the vehicle history file is very impressive and contains a huge number of invoices, all filed in date order, with its original Mercedes Benz main dealer service invoices from 1992 through to 2008 and latterly by MB specialists and with almost every invoice for works and parts purchased contained in the history file. It also comes with all books and manuals, ownership history, all MOT certificates and it has a fully stamped service book. This is without doubt, a car that has wanted for nothing. The car is finished in Signal Red with a Cream MB Tex/cloth interior, a relatively new Black Mohair Soft Top, Factory Hard Top in Signal Red, and it has the factory options of a Rear Seat and Cruise Control.
