She owned the car for 13 years before selling it through a car dealer in Southsea who subsequently sold it to the second owner a Mr Geoffrey Gladstone from Southampton on 24th February 1982. Mr & Mrs Gladstone kept the car for 11 years and then sold it to the third owner - Malcolm Underwood from Staines in Middlesex on 27th July 1993 and he undertook a complete restoration to show standard which was carried out by Mercedes Benz specialist Tony Montalbano of & T M Motors in West Molesey and in total, he spent almost £35,000 on the restoration of the car. Please see the letter from Mr Underwood in the documents which gives the full history of the car and full details of all the restoration works. Malcolm Underwood's car was well known to the Mercedes Benz Owners Club and it won numerous awards at club meetings and he enjoyed the car for 8 years before selling it to the current and 4th owner - Mr Aidan McKenna from Barnes in London SW13 on 1st October 2001. He has owned the car now for 24 years and it has been exceptionally well cared for and maintained by him and T M Motors in West Molesey during all this time and it has also been kept in a Cocoon inside his garage when not being used. It is a VERY reluctant sale by Mr McKenna, but he has just moved to the USA to live, and we have been entrusted with selling the car on his behalf. It is finished in its original colour combination of Signal Red with a Black leather interior, Black Mohair Soft Top and its body coloured Hard Top, a rebuilt 2778cc 6 cylinder Fuel injected Engine, 4 Speed Automatic Transmission, Power Assisted Steering and sitting on its original 14'' Steel Wheels with full-face Mercedes Benz Wheel Trims. This car is in truly exceptional condition throughout and comes with a big plastic box containing 3 ring binders full of paperwork and all of its original documentation from new, Mercedes Benz Datacard (build record), Service and repair invoices including a huge number of invoices from Mercedes Benz for parts purchased during the restoration, all its original Mercedes Benz Books & Manuals including its original plastic documents wallet, lots of magazine articles, a Mercedes Benz Club Concours award and plaque, MOT History, letters from previous owners, V5 Registration documents and more. This is an incredible car in exceptional condition and is without doubt one of the best we have seen for some time. It is clear on all HPi Registers and of course being an 'Historic Vehicle', it is Road Tax Free, MOT exempt and ULEZ compliant. Upon sale, it will be given a full service and come with a new MOT and our own 6 month standard Mechanical Warranty. A spectacular car in every respect and prices of these 'Pagoda' Mercedes have increased significantly over the last few years, so it should be a good investment that can be driven and enjoyed. Car on display at our showrooms in Mortlake, South West London.
