1969 Alfa Romeo

A fantastic example of the superb Bertone designed little coupe. This example was delivered new to the home (Italian) market where it remained with a single owner until the beginning of this century.

The car was then purchased by a well-known English Alfa collector who wanted the best and most original car he could find. This car was found to be in excellent original order with only 50,000 miles recorded and with no rust and no evidence of any welding.

Once back here, the car was checked right through by Alfa specialists, Bob Dove rebuilt the mechanics incorporating a number of upgrades such as a Harvey Bailey handling kit. The body was stripped and repainted in the original lovely shade of light grey. The red interior and grey carpets were left alone as they looked like new!

The standard of work was such that the car won the 2007 Alfa Romeo Owners Club Concours, both in class and it was awarded Best of Show. We purchased the Alfa in 2008 and sold it in early 2009 to a fastidious collector who will only buy the best cars. He retained it until 2021 and looked after it meticulously as detailed in the substantial history file with many invoices from reputed Alfa specialists. Suffice it to say any fault was immediately rectified and no expense was spared. It was only driven on dry summer roads and was stored at all other times in a heated and dehumidified store.

We purchased the car directly from this last owner in 2021 and sold it straight away without marketing to a regular Hairpin customer, again with the highest standards. He again has maintained it perfectly with the Alfa Pope Ian Ellis as detailed in invoicing on file.

Today the car remains in fabulous order throughout and remains so original and unworn, it must be one of the finest of its type and retains its original factory welds.

On the road it is simply sensational belying it’s 55 years and drives with a rightness that only the best original cars display. It currently features a set of the Alfaholics Autodelta style alloy wheels however the original wheels and hubcaps accompany the car as does the original air box and piping, currently Autodelta style trumpets are fitted.

A lovely rewarding car to own, I should know I have owned a similar example for 25 years.
