A high specification car that has been garaged from new, this example is simply outstanding finished in factory optional Haag Silver Metallic, (Code 329). The bodywork is arrow straight and boasts a stunning gloss uniform finish throughout. Even upon meticulous scrutiny there are no markings or imperfections worthy of mention. All trim sections, glass and rubbers are perfect and genuine Volvo headlamp protectors remain fitted. The supplying Volvo main dealer branded number plates, front and rear screen sticker and tax disc holder are all still attached. Descriptive terms such as ‘pristine’ or ‘showroom condition’ are often misused, but in this instance, are entirely warranted. A remarkable car.

INTERIOR

The spectacular interior of this mid-size luxury Volvo is simply immaculate. Trimmed in opulent Light Grey, (Code 7960), the ruched full leather upholstery is upgraded as part of the expensive factory optional Luxury Pack. The leather facings to the seats and door trim are beautifully clean and the amazingly comfortable seats are near perfect. The door cards are as new with none of the common shrinkage. The headlining is spotless and fully intact, and the pristine carpets have been protected from new by tailored Volvo carpet mats. The beautifully made fascia and switchgear is vibrant and absolutely all interior equipment functions precisely as it should including the air-conditioning and factory upgrade stereo system. The spotless boot area looks new and under the boot floor is an unused spare wheel and genuine Volvo toolkit. Prepare to be transported back to a 1990’s new car showroom with this immensely comfortable and safe environment.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

The 1.8i 16v 4-cylinder engine produces 115bhp and 165Nm rated torque to achieve a top speed of 118mph and 0-62mph in 12.0 seconds. The engine bay is spotless in presentation and displays all factory plates, labels and stickers including those to the bonnet underside. If this car is destined for the show circuit then displaying the car with the bonnet up will wow the crowds! The four-speed automatic transmission with economy, sport and winter modes is seamless in operation.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES

The optional Spectra alloy wheels are in excellent condition with only the faintest and minimal aging visible upon close inspection, utterly insignificant. Replacement Continental tyres have covered approximately 1,500 miles. This ever safety conscious Volvo features ABS braking with Electronic Brake Force Distribution and discs all round, (ventilated to front).

HISTORY FILE

Supplied new on the 20th November 1998 by Main Dealer, Lex Volvo Reading, this S40 was purchased brand new by a Mrs McCawley who has been the sole owner since. Incredibly for such a low mileage example, the car has been serviced and maintained annually by the supplying dealership, now Waylands Volvo! No expense has been spared on the upkeep of this car with all serviceable items such as filters, battery and wiper blades remain fitted proudly branded with Volvo logos. The most recent Volvo main dealer service was carried out in 2024 at 6,124 miles and Volvo main dealer records are printed out and confirm fastidious upkeep throughout the cars life within the Volvo main dealer network.
