Right. What we have here is the Honda Civic Hatchback 1.5 VTEC Turbo Sport. Its a car, obviously, but more importantly, its a Honda. That means its been engineered with all the obsessive attention to detail of a Swiss watchmaker with a caffeine addiction. Under the bonnet, youll find a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine which, in typical Honda fashion, performs far better than youd expect from its modest displacement. Its not a fire-breather, but it does rather enjoy being revved, and the six-speed manual gearbox (if you're lucky enough to find one so equipped) slots into place with a satisfying precision that would please even the most pedantic motoring enthusiast. It goes, stops, and turns with that typically Japanese sense of earnest competence. Inside, the Civic is a bit like a Japanese interpretation of a spaceshiplots of angles, buttons, and a touchscreen interface that mostly does what you want. Practicality is, as ever with Honda, paramount. You could probably fit a grand piano in the boot, or at the very least, several large pieces of flat-pack furniture and a dog.
