Lean, agile and dynamic to drive, the Clio Williams is one the greatest hot hatches of the 1990s.

Renault has achieved over 125 years of successful competition history, from the Monte Carlo Rally, and Formula One to the current E-TECH hybrid technology. Passion, heritage and a focused racing development run deep within the brand's DNA. Picking the freshly introduced Clio, the 2.0-litre version was created for homologation in 1993 and marketed to capitalise on the success of the Renault-powered Formula One team WilliamsF1. Following the original iteration's rapid sales, the near-identical Williams 2 and Williams 3 models were released.

Based on the 16V engine, the Williams used a new crankshaft, pistons, camshafts and con rods, which allowed improved performance from the 2-litre block, complemented by the stronger subframe, upgraded gearbox, bespoke four-to-one manifold and uprated suspension. Characterised by its gold rims, bonnet intake and subtle graphics, the Williams became an instant classic. Free of frivolities to keep weight down, the car was still plushly finished inside with figure-hugging sports seats, colour-coded seat belts and instruments.

This 1995 example is one of 482 Williams 2's imported into the UK, and has been in the same family since 1997. Reading just 85,206 miles, it appears completely original, free of modifications, mechanically robust and has a clean interior. This car, which is shod with a set of unmarked alloys, will require some cosmetic work to bring up to scratch. Sold with an MOT to June 2025, it also comes with its owner wallet.
