The elevator pitch on the F8 is ‘more user-friendly 488 Pista’, broadening the special series car’s intense dynamic palette to include greater refinement and on-board comfort.
The 488 Pista’s engine was the starting point for the F8, but even that epic was deemed improvable. This latest bi-turbo unit certainly nails the numbers: 710bhp at 8000rpm and an incredible specific power output of 182bhp-per-litre. 0-62mph in 2.9sec, 0-124mph in a sensational 7.6sec, and 211mph all out.
The clever bit, though, is the manner of the V8’s delivery. It responds so immediately to your inputs, even at low revs, that you’d be forgiven for forgetting the two turbos strapped to it, yet it is also surprisingly effortless to simply cruise around in.
Add to that the fact that the F8 Tributo is also one of the best riding supercars - with the adaptive dampers in their ‘bumpy road’ setting, it has a plusher and better-controlled ride than most executive saloons.
Looking inside, the seats, the pedals, the gear change paddles behind the steering wheel and the view out of the car (in other words, everything to do with the business of driving) are beyond reproach.
There are, of course, only two seats in the Ferrari F8 Tributo, but there’s enough head and leg room for a couple of adults well over six feet tall, and they won’t be clashing elbows.
Oddment storage is decent too with a glovebox, cupholders and a handy central tray, while a shelf behind the seats gives you somewhere to stow a handbag or laptop case. The 'boot' in the nose of the car is capable of swallowing a couple of overnight bags. Your golf clubs will need to take the place of your passenger, though.
Overall the F8 delivers a magnificent engine, stunning chassis and peerless ride/handling balance with dramatic design inside and out.
