Maserati Quattroporte V8 4-Door
The fifth generation (QP5) Maserati Quattroporte was first shown in 2003 at the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours dElegance. Designed by the world famous coachbuilder Pininfarina and built on an all new platform, the new Quattroporte was substantially larger than previous models as it looked to compete in a more premium segment. Powered by the reliable and exotic Ferrari F136 V8 engine, the Quattroporte delivered 395 bhp, and a 0-62mph acceleration time of 5.2 seconds.
One of my personal all time favourite Pininfarina designs, the QP5 is the closest the world has ever gotten to a 4 door saloon Ferrari - Beautiful design, combined with a premium Italian interior and a roaring but characterful V8 straight from Maranello, the Quattroporte is the ultimate combination of luxury and performance. This particular example stands out from the crowd in a rare colourway, Bordeaux Pontevecchio over Crema with red piping, and is a low mileage and well specified example being sold on behalf of Sir Jack Stewart-Clark of the Dundas Castle estate in Scotland.
Exterior
The extremely striking Bordeaux Pontevecchio (Wine Red) exterior presents extremely well, with only small blemishes commensurate with age and mileage. All four 9-Spoke wheels also present well and contrast the deep red of the bodywork. Brightwork, trim and badging is all present and correct in condition.
Interior
The Crema interior with Red piping is extremely inviting and well cared for, with small signs of wear - Most notable on the drivers bolster and centre armrest. The rear of the car looks to have been rarely used. All wood is bright and showing no signs of age and fading, including on the wood rimmed steering wheel. All accessories work as desired, and the usual Sticky Buttons often found in this era of Ferrari / Maserati motorcars looks to have been mostly avoided (But is just starting to became tacky). The BOSE sound system sounds fantastic and the optional phone in the centre console offers a touch of period correct class to the cockpit. There is a small tear to the inside of the B-Pillar, most likely from driver entry / exit.
Mechanical
The vehicle turns over and fires up almost immediately - There is very little guesswork required to guess the type of engine in the car, as it lets out an intoxicating sound on start up. It soon settles into idle and is actually quite understated when static. The ZF gearbox (found in later cars and is far superior to the earlier automatic) shifts brilliantly and the performance is effortless. A true luxury GT!
