I am a BMW Technician and this has been my daily driver for the last 19 months. In that time I have done the following to make sure it is reliable:
- Serviced every 5,000 miles - 4 times. Will be serviced again for the new owner.
- Vanos hubs and solenoids replaced.
- Timing chain replaced.
- Auxiliary belt and tensioner replaced
- Aircon pump replaced (reconditioned unit) and regassed. Runs ice cold.
- New discs and pads (PBS) all round in the last 5,000 miles and new brake fluid
- Braided brake hoses
- Replaced rear brake pipes
- All new brake bleed nipples
- New water pump and thermostat
- New coolant reservoir
- Oil filter housing gasket
- Replaced spark plugs with NGK Iridium
- Fitted M3 front anti-roll bar
- Wrapped parts of the interior with Alcantara
- Recent Michelin Pilot Super Sport 5 tyres all round
Everything works as it should. The car drives really well and has no issues.
The bad points:
- Previous service history is missing
- Passenger door has some rust at the bottom edge
- There are a few chips on the front bumper
