1998 S1 Elise

This model has the MMC brakes, boot bag, aluminium uprights and engine lid.

In my ownership I have completed the following work:

Full suspension refresh comprising ball-joints, bushes, shocks, roll-bar, drop-links and Spitfire rear toe-links.

Replacement radiator, silicon hoses and heater matrix.

Brake flexi-hoses.

New battery.

Fitted brass caps in the steering rack to replace the plastic type, new track rod ends.

New Yokohama AD08RS tyres and refurbished wheels.

Handbrake cables replaced.

Cleaned up the heater-blower unit while the matrix was out.

Replaced the old plastic clutch hose with a braided version.

Remote thermostat kit fitted to better protect the engine.

Fitted brace bar to the front end to strengthen the lower suspension and reduce flex.

New headlights and stainless mounting brackets.

Due it's age and proximity to the exhaust manifold I had the alternator refurbished.

Overall, the vehicle condition is very nice. The chassis and rear subframe are in great shape with no pitting or corrosion around the suspension mount points.

The body hasn't been painted so there's some stones chips, there's no cracking or osmosis.

The previous owner had the car for approx 20 years. He had the interior redone to a high standard. There's a short shift fitted, I suspect it might be from Elise Parts. There's plenty of receipts during his ownership that show he took care of the car.

There is some service history and tons of receipts for work and parts.

Although the number of miles I cover each year is low the oil and filter is always changed.

The spark plugs, ht leads, cap 'n rotor are new.

I replaced the plastic throttle body with a later aluminium type.

The engine runs smooth, doesn't smoke or make any undesirable noises.

Gear changes are smooth and the clutch is strong. I replaced the clutch slave cylinder and fitted a bracket that stops flexing when the clutch is operated.

The Elise is ULEZ compliant. From the Certificare of Conformity, I submitted emmisions data to TFL.
