FERRARI F12 BERLINETTA
In order to celebrate their 70th Anniversary in 2017, Ferrari commissioned their in-house design team, Ferrari Tailor Made, together with the designers at Centro Stile to create separate liveries as an homage to 70 of the most significant Ferraris in history and in doing so created 70 unique designs, each one with its own name. They decided to finish one example of each of their range at the time (GTC4 Lusso, F12 Berlinetta, 488 GTB, 488 Spider, California T) in each of the 70 different liveries making a total of 350 cars with no two alike.
The 70th Anniversary Ferrari on offer here is an F12 Berlinetta finished in Livery Number 62 - The Scaglietti, inspired by the curvaceous 612 Scaglietti from 2004, a model that itself owed inspiration to the one off 375MM from 1954. It’s presented in 'Extra Campionario' (special order) Tour de France Blue over a bespoke interior featuring Tabacco/Blu Sterling leather with navy blue alcantara and the car sits on 20" Nürburgring forged rims finished in ‘Glossy Argento’.
Introduced in 2012, the F12 Berlinetta was Ferrari's replacement for the 599 GTB and the company threw everything at it to ensure it was considerably quicker than its seminal predecessor, but also more enjoyable at low speeds. The result was impressive with the F12 multi-tasking as a traditional Ferrari Grand Tourer and a modern ‘Supercar’, mixing front-engined packaging and civility with exotic, F1-inspired dynamic ability.
Styled by the Ferrari Styling Centre in conjunction with Carrozzeria Pininfarina, the F12's voluptuous body work continued the marque’s traditional 'long bonnet, small cabin, short tail' look in a manner suggesting muscular horsepower whilst retaining all the elegance associated with the Italian coachbuilder's earlier work for Maranello.
Similar in size to the Ferrari FF's engine, but significantly re-engineered to produce more power, rev higher and ensure a quicker throttle response, the F12's 6.3-litre, 65°, normally aspirated V12 produces an incredible 730bhp at 8,250rpm and 509lb/ft at 6,000rpm. All that power is smoothly transmitted to the 315-section rear tyres through a 7-speed dual-clutch transaxle and Ferrari’s clever E-Diff. The results are startling - 0-62mph in 3.1-seconds, 0-124mph in 8.5-seconds and a top speed of over 211mph. Those acceleration figures put it ahead of a McLaren F1 and around Fiorano, it’s faster than an Enzo or even the ultra-extreme 599 GTO.
The F12 was also fitted with the latest evolution of Ferrari's adaptive magnetorheological dampers (SCM-E), which react much more quickly, improved carbon-ceramic brakes and as ever, the relentless evolution of the many traction and stability systems sees huge gains in control and speed. Then there's the famous aero-bridge - ducts set into the front wings, reducing drag and improving downforce, plus active brake cooling ducts that only open when the discs are getting really hot to reduce drag. The list of technical highlights is almost endless. Ferrari retained an aluminium chassis for the F12 but new materials increase stiffness and reduce weight. All in all, a remarkable package.
This beautiful example was supplied by Bramall Quicks with a pre-delivery inspection on 29th September 2017 and had covered just 1,895 miles at the time of cataloguing. The service history is as follows;
Prior to the sale the car will enjoy a full service and fresh MOT by Ferrari.
