Ferrari 348 GT Competizione

When Ferrari announce a lightweight, more focused variant of their latest mid-engined V8, the car world takes note. The Pista, Speciale, Scuderia and Challenge Stradale are all recognised as the best iterations of their model lines, and for good reason, they are truly the best uncompromised driving machines of their respective eras to have come out of Maranello. And whilst many think that the 360 Challenge Stradale was the first to be given this magic touch from the engineers at the factory, long before it came the 348 GT Competizione. A true homologation special built to meet FIA regulations for a new race series, only 50 were produced worldwide with just 8 right hand drive examples. Unlike most specials which are just labelled as ‘Limited Production’, each of the 50 348 GT Competizione was numbered with a dedicated plaque on the steering wheel, this car being number 41 of 50.

The car is some 190kg lighter than the standard GTB thanks to use of carbon-kevlar for the doors, bumpers, and sill covers which combined with the freer flowing exhaust adding a few horses, the 18” Speedline split-rim wheels and an updated suspension geometry, the car feels much more of an event to drive.

Other notable features include the use of the unmistakable carbon-kevlar F40 seats with their bright red Nomex fabric coverings and four-point Sabelt harnesses.
