The 4th generation Cayman now becomes the 718, a nod to Porsche's racing heritage that won the Targa Florio race in 1959 and 1960. Its significance harks back to the legendary 718 mid-engine, four-cylinder racecar that first made its appearance at the 1957 24 Hours of Le Mans. Because the 718 has lost two cylinders making the engine block lighter, going from a naturally aspirated flat-6 engine to a turbocharged flat-4 engine, the aim is meant to evoke a racing series that was won by a light car which outmaneuvered the cars with more powerful heavier engines. Pretty impressive under the hood from a 2 litre turbo engine, which delivers 0 to 60 in 5.1 seconds with a BHP of 295 with pretty good fuel economy and only 190 a year to tax. Obviously Porshe's have a reputation for power but moreover they're just as desired for their looks, and with the curvaceous lines and styling the Cayman is one sexy sports car.
