The car remained in California until being imported to the UK in the summer of 1990 by Osterley Californian Classics in Isleworth, Middlesex and was first registered here by them on 17th August 1990. It was sold straight afterwards by Fiat 124 Specialist DTR Sportscars - then, just over the road from our showrooms in Mortlake - to its first UK owner, a Mr John Karayiannis from Barnes, London, SW13 and registered on 28th August 1990 with the speedometer reading 84,381 miles. He kept the car for 8 years covering 13,423 miles, having it fully serviced almost every year - 6 times by DTR according to their invoices, before he decided to sell it. He subsequently gave it back to DTR Sportscars and they sold the car to a Mr Daniel Straus - its second proper owner, from London, NW3 on 31st January 1998. Mr Straus kept the car for 23 years covering 20,440 miles and again, the car was serviced almost every year by DTR Sportscars and once by Hendon Service Centre between 1998 and 2014 when the car was put into storage - all invoices are included in the history file. After 5 years in storage, it was taken out in 2019 and recommissioned and driven a few miles before Mr Straus gave us the car us in late 2020 to sell on his behalf. We sold the car to the current owner on 23rd April 2021 and during his ownership, he has spent £7,500 on the car with various new parts including new engine and gearbox mountings, a new Alternator, new water hoses, new rear wheel bearings, a new ignition switch and a service - all by Middle Barton Garage, a cosmetic repaint of the car by Southwest Minis & Classics near Bristol, a complete new Stainless Steel Exhaust system and fabricated exhaust manifold by Interpro Automotive in Thornbury, Bristol and a new Retro Bluetooth stereo. He has only driven 1,000 miles in the car since purchase and his intention was to take the car to his new home in Italy - hence his expenditure, but circumstances have changed and he is now not taking the car, so it has been given back to us to sell for him. The car comes with all of its original books and manuals, magazine articles, all V5 Registration documents, full MOT history and all invoices from 1990 to date. It does drive beautifully and it looks stunning in its original colour combination of Metallic Blue with Beige vinyl trim and a new Blue mohair Soft Top, which we obtained from Germany and fitted before we sold it to him back in April 2021. Upon sale the car will come with our own customer care package including a 55-point pre-delivery inspection, a new MOT and 6 months mechanical breakdown Parts & Labour Warranty which can be upgraded and extended at additional cost if required.
