BMW 5 SERIES (F1X) M5 *800 bhp*

This example is presented in the stunning combination of Singapore Grey exterior over a Silverstone interior, optioned with extended Merino leather. Its original owner ticked a healthy number of boxes on the options list including the £5000 Bang & Olufsen stereo upgrade.
Owned by an award-winning race engineer and - given his line of work - it has been provided with the utmost of care and has wanted for nothing. Purchased during Covid19 lockdown in standard guise, he carefully chose this example given its healthy condition and in 2022 had oil analysis carried out to again provide satisfactory proof of the engines health.
Engine mapping is hugely important for not only power output but engine longevity, and there are many experts out there. One name, however is constantly pushing the boundaries of safe mega-power M cars; Velocity Tuning. This BMW M5 has been mapped in person by Tommy at Velocity to what is known as a stage 2+ specification.
Power increased to a mighty 762 bhp and 950NM / 700lb ft of torque, alongside unaffected driveability and reliability.
Since then, the owner has added Project Gamma intake systems alongside Project Gamma upgraded charge coolers, lifting power to close to 800bhp - make no mistake, this is a monster of a vehicle.
The M5 was then fitted with upgraded H&R suspension springs alongside billet wheel spacers, giving a sportier ride and look without ruining comfort. The gearbox software was suitably retuned, and the braking system was upgraded with Tarox front brakes and fluid.
Maintained meticulously throughout his ownership, the owner has carried out a rigorous service regime carried out annually regardless of mileage. As recommended by tommy at Velocity it has only been ran on select premium 5w 40 oil never exceeding 3000 miles between changes.
The spark plugs and coil packs - a known weak spot - were changed upon his purchase and has always been warmed up and cooled down properly.
It has recently been subject to a service and replacement of both front and rear brake pads in preparation of its new owner.
Revealed at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show the new BMW M5 - F10 model definition - moved away from the naturally aspirated engines of previous generations, instead using an upgraded version of the 4.4 litre twin turbocharged V8 first introduced in the BMW X5 M. Originally producing 553bhp / 502 lb ft of torque, the F10 M5 was the most powerful road car BMW had yet built. The standard M5 was capable of passing 60mph in under 4.5 seconds and with the 155mph speed limiter removed was able to reach speeds of around 190mph. However this example far exceeds those figures.
Don't think however, this power goes without control - BMW's M division certainly knows what they are doing and it really shone through with the F10 M5. An active M-Differential provides torque vectoring between the rear wheels (this example wearing the optional and larger 20 inch wheels), while the braking is taken care of by powerful 6 piston brake callipers and gone was the old single clutch automated gearbox: in its place sitting a new 7 speed Getrag duel-clutch unit vastly improving both performance and driveability.
While the headline figure of 553bhp might not seem a huge jump over the previous M5's mighty 507bhp V10, the new V8 engine simply monstered its predecessor in torque. While the V10 managed 384lb ft at a lofty 6100rpm, the V8 gave a whopping 501lb ft from 1500rpm all the way to 5750rpm. In combination with the new dual-clutch gearbox it made the F10 effortlessly and breathtakingly fast.
Damping, steering and throttle inputs are all customisable for the driver, using the now fabled M button to call up your own personal preferences.
