EXTERIOR

This cherished and factory standard Type R is the highly sought after having covered just 87,700 from new. Finished in one of four colours available at the time, (Crystal Black. – Code NH731P ), the paintwork is in lovely condition

and door shuts are spotlessly clean. All bumpers, spoilers, trim and badges are intact and in excellent condition, as are the light clusters which remain clear with none of the common plastic fatigue.

INTERIOR

The brilliant body-hugging Type-R racing Alcantara seats, (Code SMT 8), are in excellent order with firm wear free bolsters and none of the common bobbling to the Alcantara fabric. Huge wings to the front seats, red seat panel inserts and Type R embossment are a less than subtle reminder that this really is no ordinary Civic! The carpets have been protected from new by mats and as shown in the pics are in great condition and the matching door cards are in excellent order. The futuristic fascia and trim are immaculate and all functions, controls and head-up displays are perfect in operation . The small plaque on the centre console informs you that the car is build number R-16968.

There are no warning lights or check engine management lights lit - see pics of dash.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

Little introduction is needed for the engineering wonderment that is Honda’s legendary naturally aspirated engines and their phenomenal capabilities, and the chain driven K20Z4 i-VTEC in this FN2 Civic remains in factory standard form. From just a 2.0 litre powerplant, Honda engineers have developed an incredible 198bhp with the VTEC system engaging at 5400rpm and maximum power output at an awesome 8200rpm! A top speed of 146mph along with 0-62mph in just 6.6 seconds is enough to embarrass many a performance car with much larger six-cylinder engines.The slick 6-speed manual short-throw gearbox allow rapid slingshot gear changes.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES

Standard 18in alloy wheels are in good condition with a few minor kerb markings and only light scratches. recently had Matching Daventi 225/40R18 tyres fitted all-round with excellent tread. The sophisticated braking system features ABS with Electronic Brake-Force Distribution and emergency brake assist and the correct silver Type R callipers are clearly visible through the huge spoke apertures,

Manufactured in Swindon, England build number R-16968 was first registered on 11 September 2008 . Supplied as a UK car by Main Dealer, this example has covered just 87, 700 miles from new in the hands of just two former owners. I took this in Christmas 2024 as a Part Exchange for my beloved FK8 that I sold.
