1999 Porsche 911 Carrera 4

Pavilion Gardens | Buxton, Derbyshire 30000 - 35000 Registration No: S346 NSO Chassis No: WP0ZZZ99ZXS602223 MOT: January 2026 Warranted 12,500 miles from new Purchased by the vendor while a resident of Jersey when 18 months old Exceptionally original and excellently presented Accompanied by a strong service history with the vast majority from Official Porsche Centres (OPC) Asked to nominate his favourite generation of Porsche 911 during its 50th Anniversary celebrations in 2013, racing driver and journalist Tiff Needell chose the 996 commenting: "This was the model that brought the 911 into the modern world. We finally got rid of the VW pedals and had a chassis that handled in a much more progressive and controllable manner. Not a convert before completely converted after!" Traditionalists may have decried the 996's water-cooled engine and shared Boxster componentry, however, the newcomer's use of a brand-new platform (the 911's first since 1963) meant that it was notably lighter, stiffer, and more aerodynamic than its 993 predecessor. Equipped with four-valve cylinder heads, the 996's 3.4-litre engine developed 296bhp and 258lbft (outputs comparable to those of the 993 Carrera RS's 3.8-litre unit). Allied to either a six-speed manual or five-speed Tiptronic transmission, the free-revving flat-six enabled the 2+2-seater to sprint to 60mph in 5 seconds and onto 174mph. More ergonomically laid out and spacious than that of any previous 911, the 996's cabin also boasted a far better HVAC system. Early 3.4-litre 996 cars are increasingly sought after because of their stronger dual-row IMS bearings and mechanical throttles. Supplied new by Official Porsche Centre (OPC) Five Oaks Garage of Jersey on 4th January 1999 to a titled gentleman, S346 NSO was fitted with various Exclusive Programme options which necessitated its transfer from the regular production line to the Zuffenhausen firms hallowed Werk 1 building. Finished in the striking combination of Schwarz Metallic with Black leather upholstery, the 911 had contrasting alloy-hued trim added to its handbrake lever, gear selector surround and instrument faces. Specified without a no cost option electric sunroof, the 2+2-seater received such niceties as ParkAssist, heated / memory seats, Porsche crested wheel caps, 18-inch SportClassic two-piece alloy wheels and leather bound floor mats. Entering the current (second) ownership when it was just eighteen months old, the Porsche relocated from Jersey to Scotland in 2009. Cherished and sparingly used over the past quarter century, the four-wheel drive sportscar has covered a very modest 12,500 miles from new. Notably original, the 911 is understood to have never had (or needed) attention to its factory paintwork or upholstery. The accompanying original Porsche wallet contains the owners manual and service book with the latter documenting no fewer than thirteen services plus six brake fluid changes, seven long-life reports and two airbag checks. The book was not stamped when a fourteenth service was carried out in January 2024 at 12,433 miles but the associated invoice remains on file (as does the cars V5C Registration Document and MOT history). Starting readily and running well during our recent photography session, S346 NSO pleasingly retains its original tool-kit, locking wheel nut and warning triangle. We have known well-maintained 996s to cover 200,000 miles or more without needing an engine overhaul. Thus, it is rare to find one with such a modest odometer reading. Given the increasing collectability of the first generation cars, this two-owner, well looked after example is definitely one to consider.
