Not to be confused with the 987.1 Boxster RS60 Spyder made on the run out of the first generation 987 the exciting special model that is the ‘Boxster Spyder’ with its unique roof and rear twin hump arrangement was announced at the end of 2009 for 2010 onward production and incorporates the second generation 987 DFi engine.

It was the lightest Porsche on the market at the time, weighing just 1275 Kg in standard form (80 Kg lighter than a Boxster S but with 10 BHP more). The lightweight diet made it an incredible car to drive, especially with its sports suspension and limited slip differential setup together with an inch lower ride height. With PDK meaning it could get from 0-60 in 4.8 seconds.

The most striking visual difference is noticed behind the cabin, where Porsche installed an aluminum deck with double bulges that resembled those from the mighty Carrera GT, Spyder's come with lower windows and aluminum doors to reduce the total body weight. Just 1667 of the 987 Boxster Spyder models were produced for the worldwide market with under 250 UK registered cars.
