1997 Caterham Superlight Chassis no. 0002

1997 Caterham Superlight Chassis No. 0002, R400 1.8 K-Series Engine 220bhp 6 speed, built by Simon Erland.

We have recently carried out a lot of work to refresh all of the major suspension components to get it handling as sharp as it should. Just had brand new CORE dampers fitted with Eibach progressive springs, supplied by Meteor Motorsport. As well as a full new powerflex polybush kit, new suspension fittings and powdercoating of all the wishbones, trailing arms and de dion. Also new full Samco hoses and triple pass aluminium radiator.

Comes with a transparent aero screen, carbon aero screen and the windscreen with brand new fitted glass. As well as the doors, roof and covers (these are showing their age a little bit). Currently on Nankang AR-1’s that have done a couple of track days but still have plenty on them.

The rear main bearing seal was changed last year, but there is still a small amount of oil that is weeping from this area so that may need to be looked into again in the future but is still in good working order. Bodywork is showing some signs of age, with the expected stone chips etc… but is in overall good condition. The rear basket was changed in 2014, with a new rear panel and respray.

It’s a well looked after car that has had many many thousands of pounds spent maintaining and improving it over the years, and after 12 years of ownership I’m just ready to move on to something else.

Has MOT to August 2025.

This would make for a fantastic fast track day car, and with the adjustable dampers it is suitably comfortable on the road. All the invoices and history of the car are present. Private plate P5 RFB is included in the sale.
