As with all Ferraris, there were always those who wanted to go racing with their purchases and, so long as someone else was paying the bill, Enzo was always more than happy to accommodate them. The Dino found itself being used as a rally car and race car, the pinnacle coming, arguably, with the referenced N.A.R.T entry for the 1972 Le Mans race.
Supplied new to the UK, via Maranello Concessionaires, as a humble 246 GT road car. Chassis #03816 was originally spec’d in Giallo Fly with Blu Scuro Vinyl.
First registered in May 1972 this exquisitely prepared conversion has been a racing car for at least 20 years. The excellent Ferrari Owner's Club records record Elwyn Owen-Jones, Carl Blunt and Norman Meek as active members who campaigned the car during the 1980's in circuit racing, sprints and hill-climbs. It won the Maranello Concessionaires Ferrari racing Championship and has been maintained in superb order ever since.
Documentation shows that the car was acquired by Richard Hall, of Hall & Hall fame, renown race car preparation experts in 2002 before passing to Mr Ray Stewart in 2006 whereupon the car started to undergo a further transformation into a much more serious race car, with many bespoke made part being made & fitted to the car, from esteemed companies such as Cosworth, Colotti (Italian Gearbox Manufacturer), BTR Race prep & more.
The Dino transitioned throughout this period, into a faithful recreation of the sole factory built 1972 Dino 246GTLM #02678.
The car continued to be used in completion, and was issued with a set of FIA HTP papers, making the car eligible for many of the leading international historic motor races, such as Peter Auto, Le Mans Classic, & many others.
Currently the car is in road going trim, but with all racing enhancements still present and would be equally at home on the road and the track.
