The Karmann Ghia combined the chassis and mechanicals of the Type 1 and the stylish coachwork of Luigi Segre of the Italian Carrozzeria Ghia, and hand built bodywork by the German coachbuilder Karmann. This meant it was incredible to look at, beautifully made and simple to maintain, an enviable combination.
