1965 SUNBEAM TIGER

Inspired by Carroll Shelby's success in placing a Ford V8 into the AC Ace to create the Cobra, Rootes asked Shelby to perform the same trick with its Sunbeam Alpine sports car. Ford's 260ci (4.2-litre) unit was chosen and the cars were assembled by Jensen Motors with the MK1 being introduced in 1964. This UK Right hand drive MK1 Tiger was subject to a comprehensive restoration in 2014 which included an engine rebuild and a full bare metal respray. Since then the car has been kept remarkably well and only covered 3,067 miles. It comes with a good history file that has a photo record of the body restoration as well as invoices and receipts from specialists for other work completed. Sitting on mini-lite type wheels and fitted with a blue canvas soft top it remains in truly excellent condition all round. A great driving car with a fabulous engine note this is a really fine example.
