Overview

When Porsche launched the 997 in 2004, it went on to become the best-selling 911 of them all. The Carrera S sits at the heart of that range, taking the 3.8-litre flat-six in place of the 3.6, adding PASM, larger wheels and brakes. Well received at the time, it continues to be a popular choice amongst PHers. It's a car of timeless looks, tremendous handling and a great soundtrack.

This 2004 example is a Carrera S in silver, and it's exactly the sort of naturally aspirated 911 that we love. The 3.8-litre flat-six is the star here, delivering its performance with the linear, hard-charging character only a big-capacity atmospheric engine can. Paired with Tiptronic S, it makes a relaxed, usable companion whether you're commuting or chasing down a favourite B-road.

And this one has been properly looked after where it counts, with a thoroughly documented engine rebuild in its history that leaves the flat-six feeling fresh. It's a car built to be driven and enjoyed, although sadly the seller hasn’t managed that over the last two years as it’s been SORN’d in storage.
