Overview
The humble and much revered Range Rover has managed to seamlessly transition from rugged off-roader to aspirational luxury SUV without suffering the usual furore afflicting other models when manufacturers try the old switcheroo on us. When changing the very nature of a much beloved brand there has historically been at least some backlash but the venerable Rangey seems to have gotten away with it unscathed.
That's not to say that modern Range Rovers aren't still incredibly capable beasts. Far from it and, although now marketed as more of a luxury SUV, the Range Rover remains an adept and versatile machine. Take this particular 2019, fourth-gen Range Rover Autobiography P525 long-wheelbase for example. Combining top tier premium luxury with a very capable four-wheel drive system and a potent 5.0-litre supercharged V8, this is one serious bit of kit. With all of the bells, whistles, toys and accoutrements one could possibly wish for and 518bhp of motive force delivering a 0-60mph time of less than five-and-a-half seconds this Range Rover sits at the top of the luxury and performance hierarchies.
Being the Autobiography edition the car comes comprehensively equipped with a level of opulence that focuses on comfort, premium materials, advanced interior tech and refined exterior detail. Rear seat passengers are particularly well catered for, with the extra legroom that the extended wheelbase provides. Presenting beautifully in Portofino Blue with black wheels and trim over an Ivory leather interior it certainly looks the part. And with a Land Rover main dealer service history, it also appears to be a well-maintained example that is reportedly running well with zero faults.
