Overview

There's just something so damn evocative about the Chevrolet Camaro. Stalwart of the muscle car scene since its debut in 1966, it continues to excite today and has been enjoying a renaissance since 2009 when General Motors announced its revival after a break of seven years. Hugely popular, that fifth-generation Camaro made way for the sixth incarnation in 2016, building upon the success of its predecessor whilst also being almost an entirely new car.

Picking up Motor Trend's prestigious Car of the Year award in 2016, the sixth-gen Camaro was rightly lauded by both the press and the public alike and proudly carried the muscle car torch into the 2020s. Utilising GM's Alpha platform, the new Camaro was available as a coupe or convertible and was offered with a choice of three engines: a 275bhp, 2.0-litre turbocharged straight-four, a 335bhp, 3.6-litre V6, and a 6.2-litre V8 with a power output of 455bhp. Now, all three of these motors have their merits but realistically if you're buying a Camaro then it has to be the V8, no? Let's face it, a Camaro with a V8 is about as apple pie as it gets.

And that's precisely what's available here – a one-owner, 2018 Chevrolet Camaro coupe with just 11K miles on the clock. Purchased new by the vendor and looking suitably menacing in its jet black colour scheme, it comes complete with that aforementioned V8 powerhouse sending all 455 horses to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Bolstered by excellent main dealer and specialist service history (with the last inspection having been carried out in April this year) this particular muscle car icon has clearly been meticulously maintained and comes to market in superb condition throughout and with a long, advisory-free MOT under its belt.

Summary

A muscle car through and through, the Chevrolet Camaro is up there with the best of the best and continues to offer a truly exciting and engaging driving experience. It may have come a long way from those early incarnations from the '60s in terms of performance, technology and drive-ability but the essence of what made the original Camaro so appealing is still present in spades and this coupe is a well-presented and carefully maintained example of the model.
