Overview

It's no surprise that the Lotus Elise continues to be a popular seller in the used market. There's just something about the original Elise that perennially excites, providing as they do such a thoroughly involved and rewarding driving experience and while the standard models are more than enough for most adrenaline junkies it's the special editions that tend to command the most respect. One such model – the track-focused Elise S Club Racer – truly sets pulses into overdrive and this particular 2015 S3 example certainly delivers the required shot in the arm. 

Combining the lightweight, stripped out bones of the Club Racer with the 1.8-litre supercharged four-cylinder engine from the S, the Elise S Club Racer could very well be the best of the bunch. With 217bhp propelling a car that weighs less than a tonne, performance is suitably impressive, with a 0-60mph time in the mid-fours. Arguably one of the purest forms of Lotus' thrilling two-seater sports car the S Club Racer, despite being based upon a relatively simple design dating back to the mid-nineties, is still very much a benchmark, proving that Lotus really did get it bang on from the get go with the Elise. 

With supercar looks and an altogether race-inspired setup the Lotus Elise S Club Racer is very much a car to be driven hard and it has the handling characteristics and frankly staggering amount of grip to allow you to do exactly that. Forget your creature comforts, here's a machine that's sole purpose is to go fast, encouraging you to do so at every turn and the sheer joy to be had in piloting such a machine is almost incomparable.

Coming to market in superb shape throughout in a fitting shade of Toxic Green with contrasting black wheels and roof this single owner Lotus Elise S Club Racer certainly looks the part and comes complete with Comfort Pack from the factory, adding to the car's versatility. Complete with comprehensive main dealer service history until 2023 the car is reportedly running as new and, the seller assures us, has never been on track, despite its specification. Summary

Applying the supercharged S engine to the Club Racer setup really was a no-brainer. With lightweight bits and bobs throughout and the removal of superfluous interior gear the Lotus Elise S Club Racer is very much a car for the track but that's not to say it can't be used on the road, possessing as it does the underpinnings of the standard S, as well as the Comfort Pack in this instance. However you decide to use this car though it will constantly invite you to find its limit, only for you to realise you were nowhere near, all the while wearing the biggest grin on your face. Because as they say, there ain't no party like an S Club Racer party...
