Overview
Believe it or not, the Porsche Boxster is celebrating its 30th birthday this year. A huge amount of time during which the Boxster has grown, improved and generally become an even better two-seater open-top sports car over the years. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Porsche decided to offer the fantastic PDK gearbox in the 981. A modern mechanical marvel, it provides a combination of everyday usability and sporting prowess that only enhances the Boxster’s reputation as an all-rounder.
With the PDK gearbox coupled to the wonderful 2.7-litre flat-six, the Boxster produces around 266bhp, delivering a smooth, linear wave of power right up to its 7,400rpm redline. With one of the best-balanced chassis Porsche has ever produced, the 981 is perfectly equipped to tackle British B-roads or a weekend track day for those with more enthusiastic driving styles.
Ultimately, this model strikes a perfect balance between driver engagement and everyday refinement, representing the last of the naturally aspirated six-cylinder Boxster. Surely this makes it the perfect opportunity to set yourself up behind the wheel of this lovely 2015 example just in time for the fast-approaching summer months.
