Overview
Many, ourselves included, would definitely admit some kind of four-by-four into the old dream garage, with a Land Rover being the obvious choice – likely a Defender. Perennially popular and hugely capable, the Defender has a long and storied history that can be traced all the way back to 1948.
Officially becoming the Defender by name in 1990 it was available in 90 or 110 inch wheelbase along with a whole host of engines, from petrol-powered V8s to turbo diesel four-cylinders and there was a Defender for most budgets and requirements. Whatever the spec, the Defender remains an uncompromising go-to when it comes to hitting the rough stuff.
Consistently tweaked and developed throughout its 26 year production run, the Land Rover Defender is a defining model and this late-era, low mileage 2013 Defender 90 is no exception. In cracking condition throughout and with excellent service history the Landy has covered just under 50K miles from new and is powered by the robust and reliable 2.2-litre Ford Duratorq turbocharged inline four-cylinder diesel engine producing around 120bhp of with plenty of torque to help you through the rough stuff.
Being a post-2012 model it comes with an updated interior with more supportive seats and that all-important commanding driving position remains. The car is also fitted with a six-speed manual gearbox mated to a permanent four wheel drive system and although perfectly happy on tarmac you'll be itching to take this beast off road where it belongs. At every possible opportunity.

Summary
There are few four-by-fours out there as solid and accomplished as the Land Rover Defender. Built to perform off the beaten track ,that's where they truly shine and the Defender remains one of the toughest to ever play the game. This particular example is in great shape and has clearly been meticulously maintained and as such will no doubt continue on where most other SUVs will fall short. Buy it and get involved.
